Acceptable Use Policy

Last updated 17 August 2026

This policy forms part of the Terms of Service. It is short because most of it is obvious. One clause is not obvious, and it is the reason this page exists: a detection score is not evidence about a person.

1The clause that matters most

A result from this service is a statistical estimate about a text. It is not proof of who wrote it, and it never will be. You must not:

  • Present a score as evidence that a named person committed misconduct.
  • Build an automated pipeline that penalises, fails, rejects, disciplines or reports people on the basis of a score, without a human reviewing the underlying work.
  • Use a score as the sole basis for an academic, disciplinary, editorial, hiring or employment decision.
  • Publish a score alongside an identifiable person’s name in a way that implies wrongdoing.

Formal writing scores higher than casual writing. People writing in a second language are flagged more often than native speakers. Both are documented limits of this whole category, ours included, and both are set out in the Accuracy Disclaimer. Use the result to start a conversation, never to end one.

2Text you may submit

Only text you wrote, own, or have permission to submit. Do not submit:

  • Material you obtained without authorisation.
  • Special-category personal data, such as health, biometric, religious or political information about identifiable people, unless you have a lawful basis to process it.
  • Confidential material you are under a duty not to disclose.
  • Content that is illegal to possess or distribute where you are.

3Technical conduct

  • Do not scrape, crawl or automate the interface. Ask us about an API instead.
  • Do not create multiple accounts to get around plan limits.
  • Do not resell, sublicense or white-label access without a written agreement.
  • Do not probe, load-test or attempt to interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
  • Do not reverse engineer the detection engine, or use the service to build a competing detector.

Genuine security research is welcome. Tell us first at legal@inkprintos.com and we will not pursue you for testing carried out in good faith and without harming other users.

4Content and conduct

  • No harassment, threats or targeting of an individual.
  • No use of the rewriter to produce material that deceives people about a real person, organisation or public event.
  • No use of the service to breach an academic integrity policy you are bound by. Whether AI assistance must be disclosed is your institution’s rule to set, and yours to follow.
  • No unlawful use of any kind.

5What happens if you break this

Where the problem is capable of being fixed and nobody is being harmed, we ask you to fix it. Where it is serious, or where someone is being harmed, we suspend or close the account immediately. Accounts closed for a breach are not refunded.

Report abuse to legal@inkprintos.com. We read every report.
